Members of the public will have an opportunity to obtain free training on the Atlanta City Council’s new electronic legislative management system.
The council recently adopted a new system. While the previous, largely paper process, involved the hard-copy transfer of legislation at each juncture along its path, the new system digitizes the city’s entire legislative process, and provides complete transparency to the public from a legislative document’s introduction through its final action.
System training opportunities for members of the public will occur at the Municipal Court Building; 150 Garnett St., DIT Training Room, ground floor, on the following dates and times:
o Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon (registration deadline is Thursday)
o Monday from 10 a.m. to noon (registration deadline is Friday)
o Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (registration deadline is Friday)
o Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon (registration deadline is Dec. 26)
Due to limited seating, interested persons or community groups must choose a session and register no later than the specified deadline by contacting Vanessa Waldon in the Office of Municipal Clerk by phone at (404) 330-6771 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The new system carries many benefits including increased transparency in the legislative process.
It documents each change made to legislation with its encoded versioning tool, and provides a secure citywide legislative workflow, document management and meeting management tool wherein designated users have various levels of authorization based on their roles in the legislative process.
Any questions regarding the system may be directed to Rhonda Dauphin Johnson at (404) 330-6500 or email@example.com.
