A number of local football standouts were among the players who were selected to the All-Region 6A, subregion B team, which was released last Thursday.
Class A private school state semifinalist Mount Pisgah Christian took three of the top four honors, with quarterback Aaron Winchester named the offensive player of the year, Mike Forester the coach of the year and Shingi Chigwere the lineman of the year.
Mount Pisgah players Browning Dunn (running back), Oz Dixon (wide receiver) and Tommy Pease (tight end) were named to the first team offense, along with Fellowship Christian’s Hunter Bryant (quarterback), Alex Edmonds (wide receiver) and Clay Hostetter (offensive lineman) and King Ridge Christian’s Penny Hart (running back) and Cliff Farrow (offensive lineman).
First team defense selections included Pisgah’s Blake Smith (defensive lineman), J.R. Cendoya (linebacker), Nic Piccapietra (linebacker), Ian Ainsworth (defensive back) and Jacob Delk (defensive back) and Fellowship defensive back Taylor Cookston.
Fellowship punter Ian Berryman was a first team special teams selection.
Second team offense selections included Mount Pisgah’s Ben Miller (wide receiver), Jimmy Campbell and Justin Cowart (both offensive linemen), Fellowship wide receiver Dalton Depew and King’s Ridge tight end Cris Bryant.
Second team defense choices included Mount Pisgah’s John O’Connor (linebacker) and Patrick Messinger (defensive back), Fellowship linebacker James Wilson and King’s Ridge linebacker Bowen Magill.
Fellowship kicker Jake Williamson and Mount Pisgah punter Jacob Delk were second team special team selections.
