Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Road in Buckhead, will host the 20th annual Nicholas Bowden and Friends Christmas Concert Sunday at 6 p.m.

The church’s main sanctuary will be filled with the melodic spirit of the season. As in past years, Bowden, Peachtree Presbyterian’s principal organist, will amass a collection of some of Atlanta’s most prolific soloists, more than 40 professional musicians, many of whom are members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and more than 130 choral singers performing many of the season’s most inspiring and cherished musical treats.

This year’s blessed presentation will feature several soloists including world-renowned and two-time Grammy Award-winning soprano Sylvia McNair.

Other soloists scheduled to perform are soprano Amy Little and tenors Clay Hilley, John Irvin and Nathan Munson.

In addition, Georgia State’s University Chorus, directed by Deanna Joseph, will perform.

This year’s performance will feature the premiere of a newly commissioned “Gloria” for choir and organ composed by Simon Johnson, an internationally recognized British composer and principal organist for St. Paul’s Cathedral, London.

Over the past 20 years, the free-will offering collected during this premiere musical celebration has contributed more than $250,000 to numerous local nonprofits including Wellspring Living, the Bobby Dodd Institute and the Atlanta Police Foundation’s Life Insurance Fund. This year’s recipient organization will be the Foster Care Support Foundation of Roswell.

There will be many opportunities for the audience to become part of the concert by joining in the singing of numerous seasonal hymns. As in past years, the concert will conclude with an invitation for audience members to join the performers on stage to sing the finale, G.F. Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” from “The Messiah.”

A nursery will be available for children 4 and under. On-site parking is free.
