The Roswell Police Department partnered with Target to provide a “Heroes and Helpers” day Dec. 14. to assist 32 local underprivileged elementary school children with having a great Christmas holiday. Each child received a $100 Target gift card to allow them to purchase Christmas gifts. Roswell police officers accompanied the children throughout the store to help them with their shopping.

In addition to the shopping spree, there was a gift wrapping station, a cookie-decorating station, a craft station, a breakfast station and a visit by Santa Claus. About 25 officers, 15 Citizen’s Police Academy graduates, civilian employees and family members were at the event.

The children were selected through HomeStretch and from Roswell elementary schools with the assistance of Fulton County social workers.
