The Stephenson football program had four players in the AT&T Junior Bowl on Dec. 31, but wide receiver Dexter Neal was the most impressive on offense.

Neal, who is listed at 6-foot-2, finished with seven catches for 54 yards for the East team in a 38-7 shortcoming to the West team.

“I just had the mindset to come out here and make sure I worked hard,” Neal said. “I wanted us to win but at the end of the day as long as we had an outstanding performance that is good for me.”

Stephenson’s Chauncey Rivers (defensive end), Isaiah Zuber (wide receiver) and Javon Barnes (defensive tackle) were also invited to the game.

“I just wanted to make sure my name got out there,” said Neal, who has verbally committed to play at South Carolina. “Make sure I had a good performance and steady hands.”

This past season, Neal helped the Jaguars (9-3) reach the second round of the playoffs. He had 29 catches for 493 and six touchdowns.

“I’m an aggressive guy,” said Neal when asked what he likes most about playing football. “I just like making plays, going up for the ball at the highest point.”

Also a member of the baseball team, Neal is preparing to play centerfield and short stop, and pitch again.
