The sophomore, who wrestles in both the 132- and 138-pound weight classes, has compiled an 8-3 dual meet record, with three of his wins coming by pin, to help keep the Lions among the state elite in Class AA.
Foster especially came through at the Area 3AA duals Jan. 4 at Pepperell High School in Lindale, where he won all three of his matches — two of them by pin — at 132 pounds to help lead Lovett to the team championship and a spot in the state duals tournament in Macon.
Lovett coach Billy Maldonado is pleased with how Foster has contributed to the team this season.
“Nick is a wrestler who has little experience, being a sophomore,” Maldonado said. “But any time he is thrown into the lineup, he wrestles as hard as he can. He’s really intense and is always looking to score points and he’s always in the match for that reason. He always gives 100 percent.”
Foster also played on the Lovett freshman baseball team last spring.
