Mount Pisgah Christian’s Ben Miller has had the hot hand recently, to say the least.

The 5-foot-8 junior guard came out firing in Pisgah’s first game of the new year as he scored 32 points and hit a school-record 10 three-pointers to lead the Patriots to a 79-53 victory over Eagle’s Landing Christian Jan. 3.

He struck again in a big way in Mount Pisgah’s 79-49 win over Mount Paran last Tuesday, scoring 31 points and hitting nine three-pointers.

Miller is among the team’s leading scorers with about 12 points a game and is also averaging about three assists per contest.

“He’s one of those gritty players,” Mount Pisgah boys’ basketball coach Marvin Latham said. “He’s the kind of player you don’t want to play against. He’s just a pest in there. He plays really good defense and, obviously, he can shoot the ball. He’s in the gym all the time, about 6 o’clock in the morning, getting shots up. What you see from him is just hard work and you see those rewards coming his way.”

Miller also played a key role on Mount Pisgah’s Class A private school state semifinal football team this season at wide receiver, accumulating 560 yards and nine touchdowns receiving to earn second-team All-Region 6A honors.
