In a news release, the Sandy Springs Police Department Monday announced it arrested Jahaziel Dionte Rashard Carter Jan. 26 in connection with the murder of 36-year-old Eric Chepkuto, who was found shot at his residence in the 8100 block of Colquitt Road, the Circa 400 apartments, Dec. 28.

Chepkuto was found in his bedroom just after 8 a.m. by his wife, who had returned home from work. Chepkuto died from a single gunshot wound.

Carter is currently in the Fulton County Jail charged with murder, financial card transaction fraud, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Carter currently has no bond.

In an emailed response to questions about the investigation last month, Capt. Steve Rose, a Sandy Springs Police spokesman, said police dispatched the case as a suicide.

However, “Once they got there, they decided it was homicide fueled by the fact that we found no gun but did find two shell casings,” Rose said.

I just wish to ask him why he killed one of the nicest person who ever lived.. he had been jailed three times and why did they release him to come to society to claim an innocent life. You sure are an animal .. what is wrong with the judicial system ..

The village where he come from is asking the question "why?". Please,I would be glad if he also answers the question why he killed him if he is convicted...and pleads guilty.

So this is the animal that killed our brother Eric Chepkuto. So why did he have to kill him?

Dionte, you really deserve the death penalty. You shot our brother in the mouth when he was begging your for mercy! This brute broke into his apartment and found him asleep and then went on to take his life.

I wish he knew Eric. Eric was gentle. Kind. Hardworking. He had just graduated with a degree in computer science at Kennesaw State University. He had done everything right as the world would need of a man. When his life was getting started, this brute broke into his apartment and took his life away. And all he stole was an empty wallet and some cell phones. Is life of a fellow man worth that much to you?

This animal deserves the death penalty. He is the epitome of what is wrong in the world. Heartless men roaming around preying on others who have done their best in life.

Do not let him out

Do not give him life in prison

Do not give him mercy, he never gave Eric mercy

And Do not stay his execution when time comes

Let him face it. He killed a bright young man who loved life, people and everything that is wonderful in life. Here is brute with a baby face!

Lord have mercy on him for he is a coward who has no idea of what he was doing. Shame on him. Let justice be done.
