Johns Creek residents can now run, walk or bike on a newly opened trail along Kimball Bridge Road to Webb Bridge Park on the border of Johns Creek and Alpharetta.

The park, known for its athletic fields and rustic trails, is a popular destination for people in northeastern Johns Creek. The Kimball Bridge Trail, a paved 8-foot-wide pathway starting at Kimball Bridge and Fox roads, allows people a safe way to get to the park.

"This has been a pet project for the City," said Public Works Director Tom Black. "This gets people away from the road as they go to and from the park. It also ties into existing trails on Jones Bridge Road and on Sargent Road."

The quarter-mile-long trail to the Alpharetta park is another example of intercity cooperation as Johns Creek and its neighbors interconnect their trails and sidewalks to create a regional system.

In 2013, Johns Creek connected a trail on Douglas Road with a trail in Alpharetta.
