When the winter storm hit on Jan. 28, GreyStone members experienced few power outages. GreyStone’s right-of-way crews trim limbs and branches that can interfere with power lines, which helps prevent outages during storms.
“We’re staying on top of the right-of-way, and I think that helps during outage times. We started getting trucks ready this morning, and we’re prepared as we can be,” said Lead Lineman Josh Kirby Monday.
If more ice accumulates on power lines this time, it could present a more challenging situation for crews than the last winter storm.
“Our crews and contractors will have the necessary equipment prepared should the weather become severe. We are well-stocked with poles, wires, transformers and other supplies needed for the restoration process. Our linemen will work around-the-clock to restore any outages as quickly as possible,” said GreyStone Vice President of Operations and Engineering Bill Sharpton.
GreyStone employees are closely monitoring weather conditions and have plans in place to address problems associated with snow and ice accumulating on tree limbs and power lines, which can damage the power distribution system and cause outages.

Think safety first during a storm, especially when it comes to downed power lines. Never approach or touch downed power lines. Always assume that downed wires are energized and call GreyStone at (770) 942-6576 immediately.
