o CARJACK JERKS: At 3393 Peachtree Road in Buckhead Feb. 10, two black males in a black Toyota Tundra with tinted windows attempted to carjack the victim while she was getting into her vehicle. When the suspects couldn’t get the victim’s vehicle started, they got back into their truck and fled the scene.

o PARTING SHOT: At a residence on the 700 block of Holmes Street in Atlanta Feb. 11, the victim kicked her boyfriend out of the home before giving him a ride to his friend’s house. When the victim returned home, she noticed her laptop, last seen on her bed where her boyfriend had been, was missing.

o SAY WHAT? At the 1700 block of Northside Drive in Buckhead Feb. 15, the male victim reported someone attempted to snatch his cell phone. The victim said a black male about 17 years old approached him and pointed a black handgun, demanding the phone. When the victim complied, the suspect told the victim he is the wrong person before leaving the location on foot.

o DISAPPEARING BAGS: At the 800 block of Brandywine Circle in Sandy Springs Feb. 15, a woman reported five expensive handbags were taken from her home. She called several consignment shops in the area; one of the stores recently received bags matching her description. The victim said she did not think she was burglarized.

o SCAM ARTISTS: At the Kroger at 227 Sandy Springs Place in Sandy Springs Feb. 19, a 75-year-old woman reported that while shopping she helped an older black male look for medicine on the shelf. He was wearing a black coat and skull cap and was accompanied by a white female. She said when she bent over to look at the medicine, her wallet was removed from her purse. In the wallet was $50 cash, credit cards and personal ID. She didn’t notice the theft until she checked out. By the time she got home, the card had been used at Macy’s at Perimeter Mall for $1,000.

o DRUNKEN DECEIT: Sandy Springs police responded to a call Burdett Road and Scott Valley about an injured 54-year-old woman. The woman, bloody and screaming, said she fell while walking her dog. The officer noted a smell of alcohol which the woman enthusiastically denied. An ambulance came to treat the victim who, while inside the ambulance, pulled four single-serving bottles of vodka from her bra. She was transported for medical treatment and the dog was turned over to her mother.

The names and charges above are from area arrest warrants and crime reports. A warrant is merely an accusation of a crime and accused people are innocent until proven guilty.
