The 5-foot-6 senior guard leads the team in scoring with 16 points a game and is also the leader in assists with around two per contest.
Williams got St. Francis’ quest for a second state crown off to a strong start with a season-high 28 points in the Lady Knights’ 74-31 victory over Pace Academy in the first round of the Class A private school tournament last Tuesday.
She was also instrumental in St. Francis capturing the Region 6A tournament, scoring 19 points to lead the Lady Knights to a 69-52 win over Southwest Atlanta Christian in the finals Feb. 17.
Williams also scored 22 points in a 78-37 win over north Fulton rival Fellowship Christian Feb. 5.
“She is playing awesome right now,” St. Francis coach Aisha Kennedy said. “Candice is a great senior leader on this team.”
Williams will be moving on to the NCAA Division I college level next year after signing a letter-of-intent with Louisiana Tech.
