Mackenzie Lech played a key role for Milton as it won its eighth state girls’ lacrosse championship in nine years last season.

The senior midfielder appears to be helping the Eagles gear up for a run at a ninth title with an impressive start to the 2014 season. Lech scored six goals and had one assist, 11 draw controls and eight ground balls through the first two games of the new campaign.

“Mackenzie is a phenomenal athlete,” Milton coach Tim Godby said. “She’s very fast and strong and quick and she makes plays on the field. Whenever there’s a loose ball, she’s always there. She has great speed and endurance and she transitions up and down the field well.

Godby said he is also impressed by Lech’s leadership ability on the field.

“She’s been on the varsity team for four years and has a lot of experience.” Godby said. “She’s a great leader. She provides an example with how she plays and provides it verbally as well by speaking up and getting the girls ready to play.” Lech will move on to the NCAA Division I college level next year after signing with San Diego State.
