Paulding sheriff's detectives have identified the victim in Monday’s shooting in a salon in the Crossroads community of north Paulding as Maria Nunez McDaniel, 29, of Hiram.

Her husband, Robert Steven McDaniel, 45, was charged with murder following the 11:45 a.m. incident. Mrs. McDaniel was a native of the Dominican Republic and the couple had no children, said sheriff's spokesman Cpl. Ashley Henson.

McDaniel was taken into custody after allegedly shooting his wife multiple times inside Julia’s Salon in a shopping center in the 8800 block of Dallas-Acworth Highway.

McDaniel was taken into custody by Paulding County Deputies, Paulding County Marshal’s Bureau Officers and Cobb County deputies who were all eating lunch in the area. The suspect was compliant and was taken into custody without incident, Henson said.

McDaniel was being held in the Paulding County Detention Center without bond.
