Jean Mori, the founder and CEO of Atlanta-based Mori Luggage & Gifts, last month received the Travel Goods Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Travel Goods Show in Phoenix.

This honor is a tribute to his success and leadership within the travel goods industry as the founder of the largest family owned specialty luggage and travel goods store chain in the U.S.

Mori spent several years in the engineering/computer industries before opening the first Mori Luggage & Gifts store at Northlake Mall in DeKalb County with his wife, Betty, in October 1971.

Today, their successful business continues to thrive and consists of 28 stores in the top regional malls and lifestyle centers throughout Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida. There are also two stores at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Jean continues to operate as CEO while his son, John Mori, serves as president.

The association is the national organization for the travel goods industry. Members include manufacturers, distributors, retailers, promoters, sales representatives and suppliers of luggage and travel products, casual bags, briefcases and computer bags, business and travel accessories for travelers.

It organizes and sponsors the show, the world’s largest trade show for travel products. With more than 2,000 lines representing more than 40,000 products, it is an annual event that sets the tone for the travel goods industry.
