The senior defender has started every game for Lovett since her freshman season, and has helped lead the Lions to two Class AA state semifinal appearances during her high school career.
Rogers is once again stepping to the forefront this season with six goals — including four goals in the last three games — to help Lovett ascend to No. 1 in the latest Eurosportscoreboard.com Class AA state poll.
Lovett coach Will Lozier said he is impressed by how Rogers has been so proficient offensively while playing a defensive position.
“She has six goals on the season and for a center back, that’s huge,” Rozier said. “We’re picking our chances to move her forward, especially on set pieces and corner kicks. We feel at this point that every corner kick, every set piece — if we can get her up in the box, she is a threat to score. She’s a strong girl, she’s a fearless girl and I think teams are having a tough time matching up with her on most set pieces.”
Rogers also plays club soccer for Buckhead-based Tophat.
