Woodland soccer player Cecilia Davis will definitely be missed when the Lady Wolfpack’s season concludes.

“I’m going to cry my eyes out next year when she is gone,” Woodland girls’ coach Michael Flake said.

But the Piedmont College women’s soccer team will be glad to welcome her.

“The Piedmont program is very lucky,” Flake said. “She will be an unselfish player. She will do anything she can to help their program get better and stronger.”

“I was interested in a small school and having that setting,” said midfielder Davis, who has a 3.7 grade-point average. “The team seemed very nice and the players seemed very inviting. I’m also into biology and it seems like they have a very good program there.”

Davis also considered attending Wesleyan, Reinhardt, Young Harris and Carson-Newman.

Before graduating, Davis’ focus is helping the Lady Wolfpack reach the playoffs again and hopefully advance past the first round of the playoffs this time.

“I love to win and I think the playoffs will be very awesome to go to again,” Davis said. “Maybe we can go further. It’s my last year so I just want to make good memories.”

“I think her confidence level has grown,” Flake said. “She is more relaxed on the field, more in charge. Her leadership skills have come out more on the field and off it as well.”
