The Atlanta Police Department is getting 28 new officers.

The Department says it plans to hold a swearing-in ceremony Thursday for 26 new male officers and two new female officers.

The ceremony comes at the end of 22 weeks of training at the Atlanta Police Academy. The training included classroom courses in constitutional law, local and state laws, department policy and procedure, defensive tactics, arrest techniques and physical fitness.

The next step for the new officers will be 12 weeks of field training with department veterans.
