The Weber girls’ tennis team has achieved much success over the last four years, and Lauren Rein has led them every step of the way.

The senior, who led Weber to three consecutive GISA Region 1AAA championships and a Class AAA runner-up finish a year ago in her first three seasons, has recorded a 5-1 record at No. 1 singles to push the Rams to a fourth consecutive regular-season region title and state contender status once again.

“She has great groundstrokes,” Weber coach Patrick Pelt said. “She’s good at placing the ball. She’s very consistent. She can rally from the baseline. She has a good serve as well.”

Rein, who advanced to the semifinals of the GISA Class AAA state individual tournament last year, has also assumed a leadership role this season as the team captain.

“Lauren’s very motivated,” Pelt said. “She’s drawn within herself. She pushes herself to another level. She has accountability for not only her actions, but the team’s actions as well. She motivates everybody to do the best that they can, to push themselves to the best of their abilities. She’s more of a coach than a learner.”
