When speaking to Eagle’s Landing senior Amit Yadav, it was evident he was very happy to be competing in the playoffs again and playing that first game at home.

“We have a really good team this year,” Yadav said. “We worked really well together. We’re solid everywhere. There are really no weak spots.”

“He is a shy leader but he does step up when he needs to,” Eagle’s Landing boys coach Justin Brantley said.

The Golden Eagles clinched the No. 2 seed in Region 4-AAAA with a 6-1 victory over North Clayton on Monday.

Yadav has been playing varsity all four years and Brantley described the center midfielder as a team-first player.

“He’s very technical with the ball,” Brantley said. “He has played for a long time so he understands what he needs to do with the ball. He makes a lot of great runs off the ball and then just looks for the other players. He likes to be an assist person before scoring.”

Next year, Yadav, who has a 3.8 grade-point average, plans to take his skill set to Germany, where he will also begin his education in medicine. He spent time there in 2010.

“Amit is a phenomenal athlete as well as a great student,” Brantley said.
