“Annually, Heritage Sandy Springs welcomes approximately 9,000 Sandy Springs residents and visitors to our very popular Concerts by the Springs series”, said Rebekah Henry Murphy, Heritage’s special events director. “We are excited to present this diverse lineup and look forward to welcoming the entire community to these highly anticipated free summer concerts.”
Heritage is a nonprofit dedicated to building community by preserving and promoting the city’s historic and cultural identity.
Crowd favorite Banks and Shane will open the 2014 season on Mother’s Day. It is a high-energy, hard-kicking band that has audiences around the world dancing in the aisles to popular favorites and reminiscing with memorable ballads.
June will welcome 1970s light rock cover band Yacht Rock Revue. Their spot-on renditions of Hall & Oates, Michael McDonald and Steely Dan have enthralled fans across the country, crossing generations as demonstrated by the 20-somethings bopping next to their parents.
In July, the summer heat welcomes the beach music of the Grains of Sand Band. The eight-piece show band plays favorite soul, beach and Motown music from the ’60’s, and’70s with just a splash from the ’50s.
August will bring The Highballs, an Athens-based group, to Heritage Green for the first time. Known for its musicianship and energetic live performances, the band will perform the best of the 1980s in a sure way to please even the most diverse audiences.
The series will close out Sept. 14 with Bogey & the Viceroy. Born and raised in New Orleans, bandleader Bogey Thornton is a powerful vocalist and talented musician. His backing band, The Viceroy, is comprised of Atlanta music scene veterans. From swinging Sinatra to retro hits of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s and current chart-toppers, the band’s performances lead to packed dance floors and good times.
