Read Ziegler has provided a strong presence on both offense and defense for Westminster’s boys’ lacrosse team.

The senior midfielder has provided plenty of scoring for the defending Class AAAAA-A champions with 28 goals and five assists — including four goals in an 11-10 victory over defending AAAAA title holder Centennial March 22.

Ziegler also scored two goals in both a 7-6 loss to Northview March 29 and a 16-7 win over Decatur April 1 as well as one goal and two assists in a 7-6 defeat of Walton April 10 and one goal in a 7-6 victory over arch-rival Lovett April 4.

He has also contributed on the defensive side in helping the Wildcats allow about only four goals per game.

For Westminster assistant coach Kevin Hudson, it is this versatility that makes Ziegler such a crucial player on the team.

“He is one of our strongest midfielders who plays very well offensively,” Hudson said. “But, just as importantly, he plays very strong defense. We don’t take Read off the field very much.”

Ziegler will be continuing his lacrosse career on the college level after committing to Franklin and Marshall, an NCAA Division III school located in Lancaster, Penn.
