State School Superintendent candidate Nancy Jester and U.S. Senate candidate Derrick Grayson are scheduled to speak to the Paulding County Republican Party May 17 at 9 a.m. at Chicken World, 4109 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway, Hiram, in the Academy Sports Shopping Center.

For the meeting, Chicken World will be serving chicken biscuits with eggs, coffee, juice and other drinks.

In addition, the Paulding County 2013-14 school year ends May 23 and Paulding County GOP is committed to providing a weekend food supply for 18 children. The party needs individuals to donate ready-to-eat food items and/or money with which food can be purchased. Food items include: canned pasta (ravioli, spaghetti), Easy Mac, Instant Grits or Oatmeal, individual fruit or applesauce cups, Lance Crackers or individual snacks (cookies, crackers, chips, etc), juice boxes or Caprisuns. To make a donation, or to volunteer with the Back Pack Program, contact Marcia Evans at (770) 757-2919 or mevans70@yahoo.com. To sponsor a child for one week, the cost of food is approximately $100 ($4 per child per week).
