The senior first baseman is hitting .338 with two home runs and 21 RBIs and helped lead Milton to the Region 5AAAAAA championship – the fifth in a row for the Eagles.
Thompson closed out the regular season on a strong note as he hit .455 in the last four games for Milton, which swept North Gwinnett in two games in the first round of the Class AAAAAA state baseball playoffs last weekend.
Thompson has been a mainstay in the Milton lineup all four of his high school years – including the last three as a starter.
He has played a key role in Milton’s region dominance as well as helping lead the Eagles to the Class AAAAAA state championship last year.
“Jack is a wonderful young man,” Milton coach Joey Ray said. “His performance on the field is only surpassed by his leadership and character off of the field.”
Thompson will be continuing his baseball career on the college level close to home after signing with NCAA Division I school Georgia State.
