To celebrate Serenbe Playhouse’s fifth anniversary, the Emerald Ball will take place on Saturday featuring food, drink, silent and live auctions, dancing and a musical preview of the summer series, themed A Season of Journeys.

“Fans will take a trip far over the rainbow and land in a glistening world of green.

“Rare gems will be far from the most beautiful things on display as Ozians parade in all shades of green to celebrate the kickoff,” playhouse Artistic Director Brian Clowdus said in a statement.

The summer season starts May 30 with “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by Rachel Teagle, starring Skyler Nicholson, directed by Clowdus and with original puppets from the Center for Puppetry Arts.

Beginning June 12, Tira Palmquist’s “Ten Mile Lake,” directed by Alexander Greenfield, will tell the story of father and daughter, and the joys and strains that they share, starring Mark Kincaid, Veronika Duerr and Bryan Brendle.

Wrapping up the summer beginning July 24 will be the classic musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” starring Bryant Smith, Edward McCreary and Kelly Schmidt

Also directed by Clowdus, it has choreography by Bubba Carr and musical direction by Nicholas Silvestri.
