Wednesday, a woman removed a political sign belonging to Angelic Moore, a Republican candidate for the District 54 Georgia House of Representatives seat, which includes part of Buckhead and all of historic Brookhaven. The thief is pictured removing a sign from the front of the Peach shopping center, 2900 Peachtree Road in Buckhead. It was captured by the Atlanta Police Foundation’s Operation Shield Public Safety Camera Project located on the property.
A police report has been filed and security is looking for information about the suspect. She is seen on video taking an 8-foot-by-4-foot sign belonging to the Committee to Elect Angelic Moore for State House District 54 costing the campaign $100 each.
This is not the first incident nor was it the last at that location. Moore’s signs were vandalized and stolen May 8 and Thursday, she said.
“Ever since we put our signs out they have been stolen — even from many of our constituents’ private yards,” Moore said in a statement. “Due to limited resources of time and funds, I stopped replacing them and held signs back for these last days of the election. I understand that theft, vandalism and tampering of signs may not seem like a serious offense to some, but I do believe it is and I sincerely appreciate your assistance.
“Among other examples, Pano Karatassos, who owns the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group, is one of our supporters and he has allowed us to place signs at all of his locations. However, even though we have replaced them, most of the signs are gone again. He has now issued two memos to his restaurants asking them to watch our signs and not disturb them. Your efforts and help are very much appreciated.”
Moore is asking anyone with information about the suspect to call the Atlanta Police Department at (404) 848-7231.
