Charles Cortell
The Sandy Springs Police Department Friday announced it has arrested Charles Cortell.

He faces charges of disorderly conduct stemming from his alleged harassment of members of a local Jewish synagogue through phone calls, voicemail, email and text messages.

Officers received a tip Cortell was frequenting the area of Windsor Parkway on the south end of the city. His vehicle was spotted and a traffic stop was subsequently conducted.

Cortell was taken into custody without incident at the scene. He is charged with three counts of disorderly conduct. Although Cortell is Jewish, his alleged message was largely one of hatred toward the Jewish population and paranoia about certain political and governmental facets. Cortell is currently housed at the Alpharetta Jail.
