North Paulding qualified for the state competition by winning its region tournament at the Frog Golf Course in Villa Rica through adverse conditions. Connelly secured the team’s spot by shooting a score of 103 through a rainstorm.
“Caroline has a great work ethic and attitude which is important because she didn’t let the conditions get her down,” head coach David Hines said.
“Her ability to shake off adversity and stay focused was the reason she became our most improved golfer over the year.”
The Wolfpack finished 14th in the team competition at the state tournament.
“It was awesome and exciting to play in Augusta,” she said.
“It was a fun moment for my teammates, especially the seniors.
Connelly pursued golf after receiving support from her family.
“The season went well and I got better throughout the season,” she said.
Connelly is also a manager for the football team along with being a member of the Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and yearbook staff at North Paulding.
She plans to pursue a career as a sports broadcasting journalist.
