The new traffic signal at Johnson Ferry Road and Wright Road will go into operation Friday. As part of initial operations, the signal will be in red-red flash, which will maintain the current operation at the intersection, which had been a four-way stop. The stop signs currently in place will remain as the city implements the stop-and-go operation of the signal.

The signal is expected to remain in flash until all needed operational testing is complete. It’s expected to go into normal operation July 3.

City spokeswoman Sharon Kraun said the new light will be a smart light, meaning it will stay green on Johnson Ferry when there are no cars on Wright. She said it will also keep traffic flowing on Johnson Ferry better than the stop sign did while still allowing vehicles on Wright to get in and out of the neighborhood.
