City, nonprofits co-hosting spay/neuter days

The Anna J Ware Foundation, the Atlanta Humane Society and District 9 Atlanta City Councilwoman Felicia Moore are hosting discounted spay/neuter surgeries for pets next week.

The procedures, valued at $200, cost only $35 and include spay/neuter surgeries, rabies shots and a microchip for identifying pets.

Residents must register their pets today at Collins United Methodist Church, 2220 Bolton Road. The surgeries will take place July 16 at Fire Station 28, 1925 Hollywood Road, and July 17 at the church.

A special target rate will be provided for low-income persons.

Requirements include:

o Pets must be dropped off for preparation July 16 at Fire Station 28 and July 17 at the church between 8 and 9 a.m. and must be picked up by 4:30 p.m. No pets will be accepted after 9 a.m. A detailed schedule will be provided to the owners once their pet is registered and confirmed.

o Pets with the following conditions are not permitted: dogs over age 6, under 4 months old and weighing more than 65 pounds; cats over age 10 and under 3.5 pounds; animals in heat, lactating, pregnant, trapped, feral, aggressive or having any pre-existing conditions.
