Barwick gains lead in Fulton runoffs; Arrington rallies

More than 80 percent of Fulton County precincts have reported runoff election results with 296 out of 365 precincts checking in at 10 p.m.

For Fulton County Superior Court judge, Shelitha Robertson and Jane Barwick have flip-flopped results, with Robertson now at 38 percent and Barwick commanding 62 percent, or 24,329 votes out of 38,981 with 81 percent of precincts reporting.

Marvin Arrington Jr. has put more distance between himself and Brenda Muhammad in the battle for new county commission District 5.

With 54 out of 60, or 90 percent, of District 5 county commission precincts reporting, Arrington's lead is 3 percent higher than earlier in the evening, jumping to 60 percent over Muhammad's 40 percent.

He has garnered 3,453 votes to her 2,346.

In other races, Fulton County voters supported David Perdue over Jack Kingston as the Republican nominee for U.S. Senator. Perdue won 55 percent of the county's votes and with 140 out of 159 counties reporting, 51 percent statewide.

Fulton Republicans also narrowly chose Michael Buck over Richard Woods for state school superintendent with 51 percent of the vote.

Fulton Democrats favored Valarie Wilson over Alisha Morgan for superintendent, giving Wilson 56 percent of the tally.

As of 10 p.m., the U.S. Senate and Republican state school superintendent races were neck-and-neck statewide, with Wilson pulling slightly ahead of Morgan.
