(UPDATED WEDNESDAY AT 2 P.M. WITH NEWS THE STOLEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECOVERED)

The Sandy Springs Police Department Wednesday announced detectives are working a number of leads provided by the victims and witnesses in a shooting that took place just after midnight Wednesday in the parking lot of the Lodge at Sandy Springs apartment complex, 6957 Roswell Road.

Detectives were on the scene, where according to a police news release, an altercation occurred during a carjacking and one victim was shot. The stolen vehicle is a yellow 2012 Chevrolet Camaro with black stripes and black wheels. But in a news release/update Wednesday at 1:13 p.m. and an email from Capt. Steve Rose, a department spokesman, the police announced officers recovered the Camaro in the 4000 block of Roswell Road in north Buckhead.

Witnesses describe the suspects as two black males in their 20s, which have not yet been identified.

The shooter was described as early 20s, 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches and about 140 to 150 pounds. He wore a red shirt and a red bandana over his mouth and nose. The second suspect was described only as a black male.

The victim, 27-year-old Monique N. Lassiter, of Sandy Springs, remains in North Fulton Hospital in Roswell in stable condition after receiving a gunshot wound to the abdomen. She is expected to fully recover.
