Workers put finishing touches on the new artificial turf field at South Paulding High School's football field last week.
The Paulding school district worked to renovate two schools this summer and is working to put artificial turf on two additional schools’ football fields in preparation for the upcoming school year.

District workers painted and replaced lighting fixtures in the interior, and replaced old heating and air conditioning equipment with more efficient units at South Paulding Middle and New Georgia Elementary schools, said district spokeswoman Suzanne Wooley.

The district used special purpose local option sales tax funds to install artificial turf at South Paulding High School and recently began work to install turf at North Paulding High School with plans to complete it by the first home game Sept. 12, Wooley said.

District officials chose North and South high schools to be the first for turf installation because neither had running tracks, she said.

“They [South and North] are easier projects to get done,” Wooley said.

Hiram, East Paulding and Paulding County high schools’ fields have tracks which must be replaced when the turf is installed, she said. Work is planned for Paulding County High early next year and the other two schools before the start of the 2015-16 year.
