More than 140 chamber members, city of Douglasville officials, Douglas County commissioners and special guests, including District 61 State Rep. Roger Bruce, D-Atlanta, attended the luncheon at the Douglasville Conference Center. Matt Barrington, chairman of the chamber board , was the emcee of the luncheon and announced each of the seven small business award winners separately.
This year’s winners included Anchor Heating and Air Conditioning Co. Inc., Ameriprise Financial and Assured Comfort Heating and Air Services.
Other companies honored included Extreme Images LLC, Hughes-Ray Co. Inc., the Irish Bred Pub and Restaurant and Miller Architecture and Planning. After being nominated by the community and their peers, each company submitted applications covering company information, growth and community involvement, Barrington said.
“Then an independent panel of judges composed of business professionals and community leaders reviewed the applications, met to discuss their findings and made their selections,” he said. After each winner was announced, a company representative accepted the award and addressed the gathering with details and highlights about their company.
Douglasville City Manager Bill Osborne said small businesses are important to the economy of any governmental entity. “It is as true here in Douglasville as it is throughout the country,” he said. “Small business is a big key to economic growth.”
