I would like to comment on your Aug. 6 edition that had two citizens comments, one from Kennesaw [guest columnist Kevin Foley] and one from Decatur [Melinda Lehrer, who wrote a letter to the editor].
The gent from Kennesaw says he is an author and writer. Most authors and writers I have read explain their headline in the body of the article. I am still looking for the explanation of the “bare-knuckle assault on Nunn” in the article.
This is the same author and writer who in an earlier article stated President [Ronald] Reagan was a Democrat until he went to Hollywood and got rich. Inference was becoming rich made him a Republican. If so, why hasn’t Hollywood’s rich starlets all converted?
The Nunn article was all about bashing billionaires. Somehow he overlooked George Soros. Soros didn’t build companies like Koch, Ricketts and Perkins, but made his billions as a hedge funder, famous for his insider trading conviction in France, where he is persona non grata.
Kennesaw goes on to say Michelle Nunn is qualified to become a U.S. senator, because she was a community organizer. Hmm.
I have never understood the statement women are trying to make when they get married and keep their maiden name like Nunn. If it is to affirm their femininity, isn’t their maiden name their fathers’?
The lady from Decatur states she has the credentials to speak with authority about the illegal immigrant children flowing into the States from Central America because she taught Spanish — presumably in Decatur — in the 1980s. Who could argue with that logic? I bet she could even explain why Desi Arnaz and Lucy split.
Ms. Decatur wins the day when she proclaims the immigration is all due to previous America imperialism. At this point my attention is starting to wander.
