DeKalb elections calls special election for District 1 commission seat

The DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections will call for a special election to fill the vacancy in the office of DeKalb County Commissioner, District 1, resulting from the resignation of Elaine Boyer. This election will be held in conjunction with the general election Nov. 4.

Qualifying for the special election will begin Sept. 8 at 8:30 a.m. and close Sept. 10 at noon and will be in the office of the DeKalb County Board of Registrations and Elections, 4380 Memorial Drive in Decatur. The fee to qualify is $1,151.24.

The special election will be held in all the regular polling places in commission District 1 of the county, in conjunction with the general election. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

The last day to register to be eligible to vote in this special election is Oct. 6. If a runoff is required, it will be Dec. 2.
